One of the best aspects of this cost-effective way to explore the archaeological wonder of Machu Picchu is that it includes meals, admission, a guided tour, and overnight accommodation.

Why Machu Picchu RPB Tours?

Machu Picchu RPB Tours is a fully local-owned tour company based in Cusco. We employ experienced and English-speaking local guides for Machu Picchu, who are well-trained in first aid and the use of oxygen cans.

Should you wish to return to Cusco by train, please contact us. This incurs an additional charge. You have the option of choosing between the Expedition class and the Vistadome Train to Ollantaytambo Train Station, but remember to book early.

Machu Picchu, perched high in the Peruvian Andes, experiences two seasons, the wet and dry seasons. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from March to November.

We also recommend spending 2-3 days in Cusco before your car trip to Machu Picchu to acclimatize and prevent altitude sickness.

Alternatively, explore our two-day Inca Trail Hike from Cusco to Machu Picchu, starting at Km 104, or the iconic Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Please be aware that an Inca Trail permit is required and often sells out months in advance.

As we traverse the region, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Cusco area, witnessing the landscape transition from the Andes to the Amazon. We’ll make multiple stops along the way for you to stretch and take in the scenery.

Upon arrival at Hidro Eletrica, you’ll enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by our team.

Post-lunch, we’ll set out on a hike to Aguas Calientes, following the historic route once used by Hiram Bingham III during his initial exploration of Machu Picchu. The trek from Hidro Eletrica to Aguas Calientes takes approximately two and a half hours.

In Aguas Calientes town:
You will be comfortably lodged in a hotel in Aguas Calientes, where you’ll stay in an ensuite room equipped with a hot water shower. That evening, our guide will meet you to discuss the next day’s schedule and accompany you to dinner at a local restaurant.

Aguas Calientes, a charming town thriving on tourism, invites you to explore its quaint cobblestone streets lined with shops selling local crafts.

For relaxation, consider visiting the town’s namesake natural hot springs to unwind after the day’s journey. Entry to the hot springs is priced at 5 Soles.

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a one and a half hour hike along a portion of the Inca Trail leading to the Machu Picchu citadel. Alternatively, you can opt for a bus ride to the citadel, which costs USD 12 per person each way and takes about 25 minutes.

Upon reaching the citadel’s main entrance, our guide will help you gain entry to the revered Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Your passport will need to be presented for verification alongside your Machu Picchu ticket by the local authorities.

Following the tour, you’ll have free time to explore the citadel. If you’ve secured tickets for Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain climbs for a panoramic view of the citadel, our guide will assist you in accessing these mountains. Remember, these are high-altitude climbs, so acclimatization is essential.
